The storyteller
I was commissioned by author Trish Nicholson to create some illustrations for her interesting and most enjoyable book A Biography of Story, A Brief History of Humanity. Having originally intended to create these in pencil I couldn't help but be drawn into the images I was asked to create and knew they would be better served as watercolour paintings albeit in monochrome. I'm particularly pleased with how these turned out and feel it is an approach I'd like to try again.
“A Biography of Story, a Brief History of Humanity celebrates Story in an entertaining cultural history, a highly original take on the power of stories in the comedy and tragedy of human affairs.”
Ah-tush-mit Son of Deer, the folk hero of the Tse Shaht peoples of western Canada who first brought fire to the tribe.
The acacia tree – symbol of life, of stories, of ideas, of our diverse human family.
